Brief Profile of Kheti Virasat
Kheti Virasat is a not for profit, non-governmental organization working in the fields of Sustainable Agriculture, conservation of natural resources, environment health and rural development through appropriate rural technologies. Kheti Virasat is a registered organization under Societies Act 1860 on April 2000. Acknowledging the issues associated with agriculture based problems such as decreasing yields, deteriorating soil and human health, dwindling water resources both surface as well as ground and depleting natural resources, Kheti Virasat started working on these issues taking agriculture as priority. The organization took initiative to promote organic farming and formed working groups of farmers practicing organic farming in Ferozepur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Patiala, Nabha, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Kheti Virasat – A Legacy of Sustainable Agriculture

Kheti Virasat is first organization who has established largest group of farmers practicing organic farming in Punjab with more than 200 farmers and more than 300 acres of land under organic farming. The organization in association with other agencies like CAPART, KVIC, The Nabha Foundation, State Agriculture Department, has played a vital role in generating awareness about ill effects of chemical farming on environment and human health as well as social issues related with these. Till date about 1500 farmers from different parts of the state have given training on organic farming. A 5 acres research cum demonstration farm on organic farming was established in Nabha block of Patiala District where training to farmers from each nook and corners of Punjab is provided
